Background Tension vs. Tightness

Background tension and tightness both involve reduced ease, but they differ in visibility.

Tightness is perceptible and localized.
It draws attention through resistance or discomfort.

Background tension is diffuse and ambient.
It is felt indirectly, often only when it releases.

When tension is sensed as a constant backdrop rather than a focal complaint, background tension is the more accurate description.
