Tightness vs. Stiffness

Tightness and stiffness are often confused, but they are not identical.

Stiffness is commonly mechanical: limited range or reduced mobility.
It is often noticed most when trying to move.

Tightness is often felt before movement begins.
It can exist even when range of motion is technically normal.

If the body feels resistant but movement is still possible, it is more likely tightness than stiffness.
